Trevion Davis, 13, Shot in Head by Clayton Police

The family of 13-year-old Trevion Davis wants answers as to why Clayton County Atlanta Police had to shoot the young teen in his head.

Clayton County police said they believe Davis was holding a BB gun at the time he was shot when they responded to a call of a break-in on Bonanza Church Road in Jonesboro.

Chief Greg Porter said officers believed Davis was holding a weapon.

According to CBS Atlanta, Davis' grandmother Treva Austin said, "Why did they have to shoot him in the head? That's my question."

According to Porter:

"We confronted an individual in the back who had a handgun...he presented that handgun and subsequently officers fired upon that individual."

Clayton County Police will not confirm whether or not Davis was holding a BB gun. Neither will the Georgia Bureau of investigation, which is looking into the case.

As for Davis' grandmother, she said:

"They won't even give us that information and what they did give us was so little that it's not even important."

Meanwhile, Mildred Williams, the woman who lives in the house that was broken into, said she is torn about her neighbor spotting a break-in and calling police:

"I'm thankful that she did call because it shows that she's interested in her neighbors and trying to help…But I'd rather he cleaned the entire house out and, you know, the police not shoot him."

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Davis family during this difficult time.
