In the footage captured by a motorist, the officer is seen chasing after a barefoot woman and attempting to arrest her. He then forces the woman to the ground and starts pounding her repeatedly in the face and head. A spokesman for the California Highway Patrol said it was aware of the video and was investigating the incident. He said it would be premature to comment until the investigation was complete.
