FBI probes hanging death of black teen in N Carolina

In the US, the FBI has launched an investigation into the hanging death of a black teenager in North Carolina months after it was declared a suicide.

17-year-old Lennon Lacy was found hanging from a swing set in the rural predominately white town of Bladenboro, where racial tensions run high. His mother said he had showed no sign of suicidal thoughts or depression. However, four days after his death, police claimed that he took his own life. Lacy's family and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People called the death suspicious for months, especially after Lacy's grave was desecrated only a few days after his burial. The FBI will now probe the case, after authorities raised doubts about the initial findings.
