Philadelphia police officers took it upon themselves to violently assault Kyle Bird into unconsciousness because a civilian falsely accused him of a crime. Mr. Byrd was slammed into a police car nine times, tortured with a baton, kicked and punched, and sprayed in the eyes with Mace. Mr. Byrd suffered a concussion, broken arm, lacerated eye, and edema in his chest. Police waited hours before calling an ambulance. He was hospitalized for three weeks in intensive care. Mr Byrd was acquitted of false resisting arrest charges. None of the cops who perpetrated this violent crime were disciplined, and certain have since been promoted.
This blog stays updated with cases of Police Brutality against Black Men and the Black Community. These are just the cases that we are fortunate enough to hear about. But, there are several "unsung victims" whose story has never been told or videotaped. Infamous cases such as Rodney King and Oscar Grant are not isolated incidents. They exist amongst a corrupt system of impunity. Who am I? I am a “Concerned Member of the Black Community.”
