Police Brutality? Protect-n-serve? 125 St. Harlem NYC 7-29-20

8-10-11 Just in: The man who was arrested in this video was released the next morning with No Charges according to one witness to the event Christopher (seen in this video) who was greeted and thanked by the gentleman the day after who also thanked GWETV and all those who reported the incident to the Police Department! No future information is available at this time.

July 29, 2011 - Pedestrians cry "misconduct" by police at 125th Street Malcolm X Blvd (Lenox Avenue) in Harlem NYC. A GWETV camera was on the scene to capture the footage as the event took place. Residents of Harlem say police who don't reflect the neighborhood should be transferred out of the neighborhood and replaced with officers who have better training and also reflect the neighborhood. 34 seconds into this video there appears to be an unconcealed folding knife (size to be determined). As the witness who is recorded at the end of this film said, had this man been questioned properly giving the benefit of the doubt by the arresting officer this may have ended peacefully. Was this apparently non-violent man a carpenter, Camper, Mountain Climber, Fisherman, or other which would explain why he was carrying what appears to be an unconcealed folding knife? Would this have happened if he was a Caucasian? Is it appropriate to ask an officer why he is stopping you, and how should you ask? Is the officer correct for grabbing the man, and under what circumstances is it proper for an officer to grab a pedestrian? Was this one of those justifiable causes to treat this man the way he was treated? Do you feel that the man was aggressively resisting arrest or dangerous to the community, himself, or the arresting officer? Why didn't the police remove the knife from his back pocket, or did they? Was it a knife? Join in the discussion, post comments. We want to know what you think? If anyone has any information regarding the outcome of this case please post that information here under the video.
